I read with interest about the new proposed public bylaws planned for public amenities in the Drakenstein municipal area. (Paarl Post,<\/i> 10 November 2022)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We do not have a shortage of bylaws in our valley, just a serious shortage of manpower\/will power to enforce them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I quote from the article: \u201cPenalties will be instituted against any person who contravenes or fails to comply with a provision of this bylaw.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year after year we have the same problems recurring along the Berg River with bylaws being completely ignored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most years the ratepayers end up having a meeting with the Mayor and his committee to try and get answers to why the bylaws are not being effectively enforced. And now we have more bylaws!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We sincerely hope we will see a strict enforcement of bylaws in future \u2013 without fear or favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
