Transnet\u2019s Cape Town terminal has shown an impressive 8% increase in volumes since the start of South Africa\u2019s deciduous fruit season, compared to last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The season officially commenced in December 2022 with exports of pome fruit, berries as well as table grapes and stone fruit destined for the international markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 118 381 TEUs (20-foot, or 6,1 m, equivalent unit of cargo capacity) have been shipped through the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) despite weather challenges of wind and fog. The terminal has put recovery plans in place to mitigate delays and clear backlogs as a result of inclement weather. Terminal currently has seven vessels at anchorage and continues to tighten its operational plans for improved efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cape Town terminal has also capacitated its employees across all levels to ensure maximum operational performance. Management visibility, employee engagement and collaboration with all stakeholders have been intensified with the aim of making the season a highly successful one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
