Last Wednesday (15 February), a suspect was successfully captured by security officers in Groenvlei, Paarl North, following a home invasion in the early hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paarl police spokesperson Capt Louise du Plessis, said the suspect, a man from Mbekweni, had gained access to the house around 05:50 on 15 February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the complainant\u2019s cellphone-linked house alarm showed a zone in the house had been triggered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On investigating, the complainant was confronted by a stranger who had gained access to the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspect hit the complainant in the face, before running off with his cellphone,\u201d Du Plessis said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe security company responded quickly to the alarm and soon found the suspect not far from the residence in possession of the stolen cellphone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect, Thabiso Batshani, appeared in the Paarl Magistrates\u2019 Court on charges of house robbery and assault, and has been remanded in custody until 24 February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
