The theme for Mandela Day this year was \u201cThe legacy lives through you\u201d and that is just what the Cure Day team did with a large scale school shoe donation drive across all provinces,\u201d said Liezl Muller Marketing Manager for Cure Day Hospitals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are not only contributing to our learners in need of school shoes, but are helping our planet by recycling various used plastic items into school shoes, that would ordinarily be discarded as waste.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this initiative Cure Paarl donated 232 pairs of shoes to Bergendal Primary School in Suid-Agter-Paarl last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Supporting doctors from Cure Paarl: Drs Stallmann, Lourens, Nieder-Heitmann, Rousseau, Schwabe and Annenberg property group gave a financial contribution to purchase the shoes. Cure Day also donated much-needed toiletries to the higher-grade learners such as deodorant and sanitary pads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe understand the challenges faced by girls and women in accessing sanitary products,\u201d said Muller. \u201cOur aim was to empower girls and women, enabling them to pursue their education without interruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe realise the importance of education and the need for learners to be equipped to learn, especially with a basic need like the comfort of school shoes.
