By nadere ondersoek het hulle bevind hoewel die bome op die oog af gesond gelyk het, baie se stamme verrot was. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As sodanig het die parke-afdeling die res van die bome ontleed. Die uitkoms van hierdie assessering was dat byna 90% van die bome nie gesond was nie en dus \u2019n veiligheidsrisiko vir die publiek en die omgewing inhou. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die munisipaliteit het ook vooraf met verskeie instansies in hierdie verband gekonsulteer, insluitend die Wes-Kaapse Erfenisraad, die munisipaliteit se afdeling vir ekonomiese ontwikkeling en toerisme, asook die munisipaliteit se departement korporatiewe dienste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maar steeds bly die kwessie van De Poort se toekoms ter sprake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die munisipaliteit het vroe\u00ebr vanjaar aan die <span>Paarl Post<\/span> ges\u00ea die suksesvolle aansoeker, The Kinesis Group (Edms) Bpk, is op 29 Maart deur die munisipale raad goedgekeur en hiermee laat die munisipaliteit amptelik toe dat ontwikkeling by die Paarl se witolifant, De Poort, kan plaasvind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jare van onsekerheid en gevegte tussen die munisipaliteit en vorige huurders blyk \u2019n einde te bereik het en De Poort word voorts aan \u2019n Stellenbosse ontwikkelingsmaatskappy verhuur vir \u2019n bedrag van slegs R31 587,50 per maand, BTW uitgesluit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die munisipaliteit het ges\u00ea die huur van De Poort is onderworpe aan sekere kriteria wat behels die ontwikkeling van De Poort tot \u2019n ge\u00efntegreerde en multifunksionele ruimte, wat hoofsaaklik die toerismebedryf in die Paarl- en Drakenstein-gebied sal dien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit sluit \u2019n residensi\u00eble komponent in, wat die organiese hernuwing van bestaande gebruike\/bedrywighede\/soorte sakeondernemings binne die bre\u00ebr gebied moontlik sal maak, wat hierdie visie na verwagting sal aanvul en aanmoedig. Die residensi\u00eble komponent kan ook woonstelle insluit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die perseel word aanvanklik teen R379 050 per jaar verhuur, waarna dit hersien sal word in ooreenstemming met die spesifikasies van die ontwikkeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De Poort is gele\u00eb op \u2019n uitstekende eiendom van byna 4 000 m\u00b2 in Suider-Paarl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sedert sy ontstaan destyds as historiese dorpie, \u2019n interaktiewe erfenisfasiliteit en \u2019n wa-museum, was alle pogings vrugteloos om De Poort werklik van die grond af te kry weens \u2019n gebrek aan geld en samewerking tussen die De Poort-direksie en die Drakenstein-munisipaliteit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <span>Paarl Post<\/span> het die munisipaliteit gevra vir kontakbesonderhede van The Kinesis Group (Edms) Bpk. (dit is nie dieselfde as Kinesis Holdings, wat niks met die ontwikkeling te doen het nie), om meer besonderhede te verkry oor die planne vorentoe vir De Poort, maar Seraj Johaar van die munisipaliteit het geweier om hierdie besonderhede te verskaf en die rede hiervoor aangevoer dat hy dit \u201cweens die Popi-wetgewing\u201d (oor die beskerming van persoonlike inligting) nie mag verskaf nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <i>Paarl Post<\/i> kon ook nie The Kinesis Group (Pty) Ltd se besonderhede deur ander soekmetodes opspoor nie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Verskeie
