The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a weather warning for the upcoming weekend extending into next week Monday (8 April). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCold temperatures, widespread rainfall and possible flooding over parts of South Africa this weekend into early next week (6 to 9 April 2024),\u201d will occur, according to the SAWS press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the recent prolonged heatwaves across the country as well as below-average rainfall over much of South Africa\u2019s interior, cooler and unsettled weather conditions are expected across many regions over the coming days, including the Cape Winelands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTropical moisture has been transported from our neighbouring countries to the central and eastern interior of South Africa since yesterday (3 April). This will result in scattered rainfall to continue today (4 April) and Friday (5 April), which will spread to the southern parts of the Western Cape and parts of the Eastern Cape tonight into Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCooler temperatures are forecast for the southern and eastern parts of the country from 5 April.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Persistent showers and thunderstorms will also take place in the Cape Winelands with other heavy rainfall over parts of the Overberg <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Cape south-west coast may also experience a strong to gale force south-easterly wind, which could affect coastal marine routines and operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cool to cold temperatures are also expected across parts of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal from Saturday, which will spread to the remainder of the country on 7 April to 8 April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is strongly advised that the public take necessary precautions during this weekend and early next week. This includes avoiding crossing flooded roads, bridges, and swollen streams,\u201d said the SAWS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
