The Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, released the crime statistics for the fourth quarter of the 2023-\u201924 financial year as well as the latest statistics of the first quarter of the 2024-\u201925 financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statistics are derived from various categories of crime reported to the police from January to March this year, and the first quarter for 2024-\u201925 from April to June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have had a busy start to the year,\u201d commented Mchunu, \u201cwith the national and provincial elections having taken place in May, which resulted in the delay of the release for the last quarter of the previous financial year. These will be made available on our website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese numbers tell a sobering story, reflecting the severity of the challenges we face. These numbers represent more than just figures on a page; they reflect the lived realities of our citizens\u2014their fears, their losses, and their hopes for a safer tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe data is a stark reminder of the urgent need for action. We are confronted with a crisis that threatens the safety of our communities and undermines the stability of our nation. Contact crimes, in particular, are wreaking havoc and instilling fear. This is unacceptable, and we must confront this challenge with unwavering resolve and strategic precision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statistics for the fourth quarter of the previous financial year are as follows: in terms of sexual assault Paarl East ranked at 25th place nationally and 11th place in the Western Cape. For common assault Paarl East ranked at 26th place nationally and 11th place provincially. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For contact-related crimes Paarl East are ranked at 12th place nationally and 10th place provincially. The same station were also among the top 30 stations in the malicious damage to property crimes ranking at 12th nationally and 10th place provincially. In terms of drug-related crime Paarl East ranked 30th nationally and 24th provincially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paarl Police Station were also among these statistics ranking at 17th place nationally for sexual assault and 10th place provincially. In the theft-from-a-motor-vehicle category Paarl ranked at 21st place nationally and 5th provincially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statistics for the first quarter of the new financial year are as follows: Paarl East ranked at 26st place nationally for common assault and and 10th place in the Western Cape. For contact-related crime Paarl East ranked at 17th nationally and 11th place provincially. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same station was also among the top 30 stations in the malicious damage to property crimes ranking at 16th nationally and 11th place provincially. In terms of drug-related crime Paarl East ranked 25th nationally and 21st place provincially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
