Skade is gedoen aan die Hugenote-tonnel se betonvoering, beligting, kommunikasiestelsels, brandopsporing en ventilasie nadat ‘n bus die afgelope Vrydagaand binne die tonnel gebrand het, en herstelwerk kan tot twee weke duur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00f3 het die Suid-Afrikaans Nasionale Padagentskap (Sanral) Sondag by navraag ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die bus het Vrydagaand (3 Oktober) omstreeks 23:00 in die tonnel aan die brand geraak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEES<\/strong>: Hugenote-tonnel gesluit weens \u2018strukturele skade\u2019 n\u00e1 bus in nagtelike ure brand<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die bus was glo van Mthatha na Kaapstad onderweg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens die Drakenstein-munisipaliteit het ‘n Voorlopige ondersoek bevind dat die bus glo \u2018n elektriese fout ervaar het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alle passasiers is veilig ontruim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Een persoon het geringe beserings opgedoen en is na die hospitaal geneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Lwando Mahlasela, ‘n provinsiale woordvoerder vir Sanral, is die agentskap tans besig om die strukturele integriteit van die betrokke gedeelte van die tonnel te bepaal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die strukturele integriteit het spesifiek betrekking op die betonvoering aan die sye en die plafon van die tonnel. Sodra hierdie beoordeling voltooi is, sal ons \u2019n beter begrip h\u00ea van die herstel- en\/of vervanging van hierdie elemente. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ander toerusting soos beligting, kommunikasie, brandopsporing en ventilasie het ook uitgebreide skade oor \u2019n gedeelte van ongeveer 50 meter van die 3,9 km lange tonnel opgedoen,” het Mahlasela by navraag aan Paarl Post<\/em> ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahlasela s\u00ea dit is moeilik om \u2019n presiese sperdatum vir die voltooiing van herstelwerk en heropening van die tonnel te gee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ons stel onsself \u2019n teiken van tussen een tot twee weke om die werk af te handel. Ons sal probeer om dit vroe\u00ebr te voltooi, afhangend van die uitslae van die strukturele beoordeling en gegewe die druk op alternatiewe roetes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die R101 (Du Toitskloofpas) sal voortaan gebruik word as die naaste alternatiewe roete om verkeer tussen die Paarl en Worcester te herlei waar twee stop-en-ry-punte tans in plek is te midde van padwerke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlhoewel hierdie roete \u2019n aktiewe konstruksieterrein is, kan toegang onder verkeersbeheer toegelaat word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGebruik asseblief hierdie roete met versigtigheid en verwag langer reistye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHierdie re\u00ebling sal in plek bly totdat die Hugenote-tonnel weer oopgemaak word,\u201d het Tertuis Simmers, die Wes-Kaapse LUR vir infrastruktuur Saterdag in \u2018n verklaring ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die volgende alternatiewe roetes is deur die Wes-Kaapse Regering bevestig en beskikbaar:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Van Worcester na Kaapstad \u2013 via Wolseley\u2013Wellington\u2013Paarl na N1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Van Kaapstad na Worcester \u2013 via Paarl\u2013Wolseley\u2013Worcester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Die N2 kan via Worcester en Villiersdorp bereik word.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Die Bainskloofpas is slegs oop vir ligte<\/strong> motorvoertuie<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Die R101 (Du Toitskloofpas) is oop met minstens twee stop\/ry-punte (verwag vertragings).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
