Die Dal Josafat-stadion in Paarl beskik nou oor \u2019n splinternuwe parkeerterrein, nadat bouwerk in Maart vanjaar begin en in Junie afgehandel is. Die eerste fase van die opgraderingsprojek is Woensdag 21 Augustus tydens \u2019n amptelike seremonie deur die Drakenstein-munisipaliteit (DM) bekendgestel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Delaney, die waarnemende uitvoerende direkteur van gemeenskapsdienste by die DM, het verduidelik dat die parkeerterrein uitsluitlik vir motors beskikbaar is en dat busse steeds aan die oostekant van die stadion sal moet parkeer. Hy het bevestig dat die nuwe geriewe deel van \u2019n drieledige opgraderingsplan is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die tweede fase behels die herstel van die tartan-atletiekbaan, waarvoor sowat R2 miljoen begroot is. Die derde fase sluit die opgradering van die busparkering aan die oostekant van die stadion in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die eerste fase alleen het die DM ongeveer R7 miljoen gekos en het grondwerk, teerwerk, randstene, padtekens, verfwerk, stormwaterkanale, bome en ander infrastruktuur ingesluit. Altesaam 305 gemerkte parkeerplekke is nou beskikbaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Michael Fraser, die uitvoerende hoof van Boland Atletiek, het ook die geleentheid bygewoon en sy waardering teenoor die DM vir die opgradering in die stadion uitgespreek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paarl Post<\/em> het in Mei vanjaar berig dat die DM in die parkeergebied moes bel\u00ea om aan die wet op veiligheid by sport- en ontspanningsgeleenthede (Sasrea) te voldoen. Die Sasrea-wet het ten doel om die veiligheid van mense wat groot sportbyeenkomste bywoon, sowel as hul eiendom, te beskerm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paarl Post<\/em> het ook vroe\u00ebr vanjaar berig dat die Dal Josafat-stadion se internasionale akkreditasie, wat deur W\u00eareldatletiek uitgereik word, aan die einde van 2024 verval het. Fraser het destyds verduidelik dat die munisipaliteit aansoek om verlenging sou moet doen, wat die stadion \u2019n addisionele twee jaar sou gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akkreditasie deur W\u00eareldatletiek is vir agt jaar geldig. \u2019n Geakkrediteerde diensverskaffer het in Februarie vanjaar die stadion en sy tartanbaan ge\u00efnspekteer en \u2019n verslag saamgestel oor die nodige herstelwerk om vir herakkreditasie te kwalifiseer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delaney het tydens die opening benadruk dat hierdie nasionale en internasionale standaarde noodsaaklik is om te verseker die stadion asook die atlete wat dit gebruik, op \u2019n mededingende vlak kan deelneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paarl Post <\/em>het navrae aan die DM gerig rakende die beplande tydraamwerke vir fase twee en drie, asook of die stadion reeds herakkreditasie deur W\u00eareldatletiek ontvang het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
