Two Grade 4 learners of La Rochelle Girls’ Primary School, Yutamé Scheffers and Faith Beukes, can be seen in the local romantic comedy Late Bloomer on Showmax.
These two nine year olds say they had an awesome time on set, interacting with some of their favourite local actors who now became their colleagues.
Yutamé and Faith have been friends since 2018 and even though this is not their first time on television it is the first time getting acting roles in the same production.
Yutamé plays the role of Riley, a very well behaved girl that was really interested in her aunt’s life whom she admires.
“Being on set was a dream come true and all the actors and actresses were so kind and so much fun. It really felt like I was at home and part of the family,” Yutamé said.
About her and Faith being in the same movie she said: “We did not see each other on set as we were in different scenes on different days, but it was nice to see her in the final product.”
Yutamé says that one day she would like to become a medical doctor, then a lecturer and then a professor.
She started her acting career in 2020 with voice overs for radio. She is also the brand ambassador for Vita Kids school beats. She also did a commercial for kykNet with Late Bloomer being the first production she plays in.
This year Yutamé will also be seen in Dinge van ’n kind which will be screened from 10 May on kykNET.
In Late Bloomer Faith plays the role of a cute girl at the park.
“The experience on set was once again amazing. I was so excited to meet new cast members like Nicole Fortuin and Bianca Flanders. The set I was working on was very colourful and bright and I just loved it. There were children playing in the park, it was very cheerful and I felt happy. It was nice not to be the only child there. The best part of my scene was that I was able to eat all the delicious candy and treats and the strawberry slushy.”
Like with her experience with the filming of the local Showmax-series Skemerdans, Faith again loved the make-up and wardrobe crew.
Faith said she felt very proud to see Yutamé on screen, because she is one of her “besties”. “I hope that one day we can work closely together on set.”
Faith hopes to become a doctor and be an actress too.
.Late Bloomer started showing on Showmax on 28 February and is the story of a happy-go-lucky party girl who has to reassess her carefree life when she falls in love and suspects she may be pregnant. The age rating for the film is 16, and the family viewing function is recommended for younger viewers.
