Terwyl die koronavirus inwoners van die Kalahari agter geslote deure gehou het, het \u2019n maatskaplike hulpwerker in Kuruman gewerk om kinders veilig te hou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauren Naud\u00e9 van die ACVV het \u2019n naaldwerkmasjien uit die kas gehaal om in die stryd teen die Covid-19-pandemie maskers vir nasionale kinderbeskermingsweek te maak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy s\u00ea daar is talle kinders in die Kuruman-omgewing wat nie maskers het nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit het vir my duidelik geword dat daar nie kleiner maskers beskikbaar is wat beter op jonger kinders se gesigte pas nie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weens die staat van inperking wat veroorsaak het dat baie nie kon werk nie, kan inwoners ook nie bekostig om geld op \u2019n masker te bestee nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naud\u00e9 s\u00ea sy is nie \u2019n watwonderse naaldwerkster nie en het maar ses maande terug vir die eerste keer aan \u2019n naald en garing geraak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sowat twee weke gelede het sy besluit om haar naaldwerkmasjien af te stof en haar deel vir kinderbeskermingsweek te doen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op Vrydag 5 Junie, het sy sowat 30 maskers en handontsmettingsmiddels aan kinders in en om die dorp uitgedeel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milla Januarie, van die Bring Back Hope-sentrum vir kinders met spesiale behoeftes, s\u00ea die maskers beteken baie vir die sentrum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schalkie Pienaar (11), wat blind is, s\u00ea hy is bly dat hy \u2019n groen masker gekry het omdat groen sy gunsteling kleur is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMense moet hul maskers dra om nie die virus te kry nie,\u201d s\u00ea Schalkie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Wrenchville s\u00ea die sesjarige Taylor Corner sy kan nie wag om haar maatjies haar oranje masker te wys nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marvin Jina (13) van Wrenchville s\u00ea hy weet die masker gaan hom teen Covid-19 beskerm. Hy s\u00ea hy sien uit om sy masker te dra wanneer hy weer by sy vriende gaan kuier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
