Benewens boere, dorpenaars en vrywilligers wat onlangs gehelp het om die verwoestende brande om Kimberley te blus, het GWK en Ekapa-myn R2\u2009miljoen bewillig wat Agri Noord-Kaap deur sy stigting gaan gebruik om boere wat ernstige skade gely het by te staan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vennote, ander maatskappye en individue word aangemoedig om ook geld by te dra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boere, plaaswerkers, dorpenaars en sakemanne het saamgestaan om brande te beveg en kos, water en brandstof te voorsien. Tydens die opruiming het vrywilligers ook hul handearbeid aangebied om beseerde diere te verskuif. Sowat 144\u2009000\u2009ha is in Schmidtsdrift, Campbell, Douglas, Kimberley, Magersfontein en Jacobsdal verwoes. Meer as 440\u2009000\u2009ha is die afgelope twee maande in die provinsie afgebrand, terwyl vee- en wildverliese ook aangemeld is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Nicol Jansen, voorsitter van Agri Noord-Kaap, sal die skenkings gebruik word om medisyne te verskaf aan veeartse wat hul dienste gratis aanbied. Boere kan ook vir toelae aansoek doen om beskadigde infrastruktuur soos heinings, pypleiding en sonkragstelsels te herstel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neil de Klerk, uitvoerende hoof van bemarking en kommunikasie van GWK, en Jahn Hohne, uitvoerende hoof van die Ekapa-mynmaatskappy, het in ooreenstemming met GWK se Net een druppel-veldtog besluit om saam te werk. Di\u00e9 veldtog, wat boere in droogtegeteisterde gebiede bystaan, word nou ook ingespan om boere te help wat deur die brande skade gely het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEkapa is \u2018n maatskappy wat baie vir die omgewing en sy mense omgee, en die Hohne-familie is bekend vir hul bydrae tot wildbewaring. Ekapa en GWK is ernstig oor hul verantwoordelikhede teenoor gemeenskappe en die omgewing,\u201d s\u00ea De Klerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hohne het van die gebrande plase besoek en is diep getref deur die nagevolge op mense, veekuddes en wild. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns moet betrokke raak en help om die grootskaalse vernietiging op te ruim. Ek het op verskroeide aarde gestaan en verwilderde diere gesien wat nie weet waar hul kos vandaan gaan kom nie,\u201d s\u00ea Hohne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Llewellyn Brooks, GWK se besturende direkteur, s\u00ea aangesien die maatskappy deur boere se ondersteuning gese\u00ebn is, wil hulle die boere help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie boere en gemeenskappe wat saam teen die vlamme geveg het, inspireer \u2019n mens. Ons versoek ons vennote, verskaffers, finansi\u00eble instellings en die sakesektor om Agri Noord-Kaap te ondersteun en betrokke te raak. Ons moet ons boere en hul kuddes ondersteun.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jansen s\u00ea hy voel ge\u00eberd om saam met twee maatskappye te werk wat die Noord-Kaap se belange op die hart dra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns sal die projekte in werking stel deur die Agri Noord-Kaap-stigting, ons nie-winsgewende organisasie wat wetlik geld vir rampverligting mag insamel.
