Inwoners van die Minerva Gardens-aftreeoord in Kimberley is Donderdagmiddag (09\/12) erg geskok gelaat nadat weerlig \u2019n gewel van \u2019n woonstelgebou afgeslaan en bakstene laat verkrummel het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benewens die gewel het \u2019n hele stuk van die baksteenmuur verkrummel. Stukke baksteen van die dubbelverdiepinggebou het 34\u2009m ver getrek. Die ge\u00eblektrifiseerde heining se alarm is ook getref en die sirene het heeltyd afgegaan. Niemand is in die voorval beseer nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die gebou bevat enkelwoonstelle en kamers vir verswakte bejaardes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth Hendricks, wat in \u2019n enkelverdiepingwoonstel bly, s\u00ea sy het \u2019n harde slag gehoor, en hoe die bakstene na benede stort. Sy het uitgehardloop en bakstene oor die plaveisel sien l\u00ea. Van die stukke het op die afdakke bokant geparkeerde motors beland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit was pas nadat \u2019n swaar re\u00ebnbui uitgesak en die weer effe opgeklaar het. Toe hoor ek die stene val; dit was asof die bakstene ontplof het. Ek was erg geskok. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEers was ek te bang om uit te kom, totdat ek die ander inwoners sien uitkom het. Dit is toe wat ek my seun bel om te kom kyk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heleen Pretorius s\u00ea sy het pas van vakansie teruggekeer en het by haar sussie in die Stillerwe\u00eb-aftreeoord gaan kuier. \u201cDie weer was erg, toe kom ek maar huis toe. Ek was pas hier toe hoor ek die slag. Ek het dadelik uitgekom, maar die ander inwoners het geskok bly sit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adele Groenewald-Shields, tesourier van die oord, s\u00ea hulle het reeds die versekeraar in kennis gestel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie DStv-ontvangs van al die woonstelle is uitgeslaan. Ons sal dadelik \u2019n kontrakteur laat uitkom om te sien wat die skade aan die nok en dak is. Ons is onseker of re\u00ebnwater daar gaan inloop, want dan sal die betrokke woonstelle ontruim moet word. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk gaan ook die buitedeure sluit om mense weg te hou, want dalk kan nog bakstene uitval.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy moet ook nog bepaal of van die motors beskadig is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
