Dit is \u2019n gegewe dat Pieter Bergh, nuwe afrigter van Griekwas, nie al sy kaarte in Vrydag (07\/01) se oefenwedstryd tussen die Griekwas en Cheetahs sou wys nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Griekwas het in Bloemfontein met 26 \u2013 38 teen die Vrystaters vasgeval. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Di\u00e9 twee spanne pak mekaar Saterdag (15\/01), weer in die Rosestad, in die ware Jakob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verskeie positiewe punte was Vrydag aan die Poubloues se spel sigbaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Noord-Kapenaars het \u2019n paar keer baie veld met rolmaal\u00adbewegings gewen en het goed in die lynstane vertoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar was ook \u2019n hanteerfout of twee, en dalk die grootste probleem was die geleenthede wat die Poubloues nie in punte omskep het nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn die verlede het Griekwas baie gesukkel in die lynstane,\u201d s\u00ea Bergh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit was goed om die seisoen met sukses in die lynstane te begin. Ek dink ons lynstane was uitstekend, en dit is beslis iets om op voort te bou. Dit gaan ons selfvertroue gee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vir vanjaar gaan Ruan Steenkamp weer die Griekwas op die veld lei, met die Noord-Kapenaars wat die Curriebeker in hul visier het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steenkamp (28), \u2019n losvoorspeler, het die Poubloues ook verlede jaar aangevoer toe hulle die halfeindronde van die Curriebeker-rugbyreeks gehaal het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy is \u2019n bewese kaptein, wat vroe\u00ebr in sy loopbaan spanne soos die Suid-Afrikaanse Skolespan, die Junior Bokke en die Bulle aangevoer het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk glo jy moet eerder deur voorbeeld lei as om te praat,\u201d s\u00ea Steenkamp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOm \u2019n ding reg te probeer praat, werk nie. Ek wil die span lei met die manier waarop ek speel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steenkamp, \u2019n boorling van Krugersdorp, en sy spanmaats hoop om vanjaar die eerste keer sedert 1970 weer die Curriebeker staanplek in Kimberley te gee. Verlede jaar het die Haaie hulle net-net met 28 \u2013 24 in die halfeindronde geklop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toe hy verlede jaar ges\u00ea het die Poubloues wil in 2021 die Curriebeker wen, het sommige kritici seker hul o\u00eb gerol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Griekwas kon immers die vorige seisoen nie \u2019n enkele Curriebeker-wedstryd wen nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steenkamp-hulle het egter in 2021 gewys dat hulle nie lugkastele in Kimberley bou nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hulle het onder meer oorwinnings oor groot spanne soos die Westelike Provinsie, Haaie en Leeus op pad na die halfeindronde behaal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2019n Hele groep spelers, asook Scott Mathie (hoofafrigter) en Albert van den Berg (hulpafrigter), het Kimberley intussen verlaat. Tog beteken dit nie die Poubloues gaan vanjaar swakker wees nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spelers soos Johan Mulder (skrumskakel), Rynhardt Jonker (senter) en Sango Xamlashe (senter) sal die geleentheid wat hulle nou kry, met albei hande wil aangryp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steenkamp s\u00ea dat hulle onder leiding van Bergh, en Barend Pieterse (hulpafrigter), \u2019n nuwe plan het om sukses in 2022 te probeer verseker. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
