An organ concert will soon give residents the opportunity to see and hear what one of Kimberley\u2019s top matriculants for 2021 most loves to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waldo Jones, former learner of the Northern Cape High School, passed his 2021 National Senior Certificate examination with two distinctions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has already been accepted for a four-year Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Pretoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn my third year I will go in the direction of Performing Arts. It has been my desire to study music since I started playing the organ,\u201d Waldo says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy passion for playing the organ has become the driving force behind my music career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started playing the organ by ear at age seven, and had his first official music lesson at age 11. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his second lesson he worked out Bach\u2019s \u201cToccata in D minor\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, Waldo has won numerous prizes and received many awards and bursaries for his talent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the age of 16 he played the organ during a youth rally in the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, which was attended by approximately 40 000 people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waldo is already involved in an organ-building course in Pretoria. He says if Werner Hurter, pipe organ specialist, will allow it, he would love to work with him during his March and September university holidays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
