The steepest climb out of the Covid-19 pandemic is over, says Nicky Weiman, chief economist at Nedbank, emphasising that the country is in the process of recovering from the effect of level 5 of the lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weiman was the guest speaker at the Northern Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u2019s (Nocci)<\/strong> annual general meeting on 15 February at the Horseshoe Inn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n However, she said, confidence in the country is still fragile and an urgent recovery of industries in especially travel, tourism and food services are essential for job creation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n At the event, Sharon Steyn, chief executive officer of Nocci, said one of the concerns that the chamber would focus on for the coming year was the deterioration of the central business district of the capital of the Northern Cape. Steyn further emphasised that Nocci was there for all businesses in the whole of the province, and not only Kimberley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Five new committee members were elected for a two-year term. They are: Carla van der Merwe (Sport in Sight Optometrist), Deon Schoeman (B4i Fuel), Dudley Dally (DDCM), Bianca Botha (Atlantic Foods) and Romano Farao (Reflecto Signs).
