The Kimberley Harriers Running Club held its first 30 km race on Saturday (05\/03).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event was also used by Athletics Griqualand West (AGW) as a qualifier for Athletics South Africa\u2019s national marathon championship, which will be held in Durban on 8 May. As no marathon will be held in the Northern Cape before this date, the decision was made to allow runners who finish within a certain time to qualify. The winner and two runners-up will represent the AGW at this event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA 30 km race is a good distance for an athlete to prepare for a marathon,\u201d says Ria Janse van Vuuren, club secretary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
