Grace Stevens, award-winning TV chef, confectionery connoisseur, and winter-loving human, shares her recipe for pumpkin fritter doughnuts to warm up your home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pumpkin fritter doughnuts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

500\u2009g diced raw pumpkin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

150\u2009ml milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\u2009egg yolk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

35\u2009g soft butter<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20\u2009g fresh yeast<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\u2009ml salt<\/p>\n\n\n\n

650\u2009ml flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

30\u2009ml\u2009castor sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oil for frying<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castor sugar and cinnamon to dust<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\u2009Cook pumpkin until soft, mash it and measure off 125\u2009ml.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.\u2009Dissolve yeast in milk, add yolk and stir well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.\u2009Combine flour, salt and pumpkin. Add soft butter. Pour in milk mixture and combine all ingredients well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.\u2009Knead for about five minutes on a floured surface. You may need to add a bit more flour until your dough is combined, but not sticky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.\u2009Return it to a large bowl and cover with a cloth. Allow to double in size, about 60 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.\u2009Knead dough gently to return to original size and divide it into 16 equal sized balls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.\u2009Shape into ring doughnuts by pushing index finger through a ball of dough and widening the hole until a ring doughnut is formed. Make an extra-large hole, because during frying it will get smaller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.\u2009Place doughnuts onto a floured tray and cover with a cloth. Allow to double in size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.\u2009Fry in hot oil until golden on both sides, flipping over each doughnut to fry on the reverse side. (Test to see if the oil is hot enough by putting a little piece of bread in oil. If it bubbles, the oil is hot enough for the doughnuts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.\u2009Drain doughnuts on kitchen towel before tossing it in cinnamon sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
