Nadat jy in \u2019n meestal ontoeganklike w\u00eareld ingerol het, wil jy nie boonop die heeltyd \u201cshame\u201d hoor nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Di\u00e9 opmerking van Martelize Brink, radio-omroeper en regisseur by RSG, weerspie\u00ebl die boodskap van die Yonder Hartsfees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brink, van \u2019n rolstoel afhanklik, was een van die openbare figure wat die afgelope naweek ten tyde van di\u00e9 fees in Kimberley opgetree het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die fees is in 2019 die eerste keer gehou, en n\u00e1 \u2019n feesdroogte weens die Covid-19-pandemie is die tweede fees die afgelope naweek deur duisende mense besoek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jannie van Zyl, direkteur van die Noord-Kaaplandse Geestesgesondheidsvereniging, waarvan Yonder deel is, s\u00ea die opkoms het die feeskomitee se verwagtinge oortref. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTerugvoering wat ons tot dusver ontvang het, was baie positief,\u201d s\u00ea hy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teen Dinsdag (30\/08) toe NoordkaapBulletin<\/em><\/span> na die rolpers moes gaan, was die uiteindelike getal besoekers nog nie beskikbaar nie, maar Van Zyl s\u00ea alle aanduidings is dat dit meer as met die eerste fees was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By die toegangshek na die Malu-park-feesterrein in Kimdustria het besoekers veral Vrydagaand, asook Saterdag en Sondag, in \u2019n lang ry vir toegang gewag. Mense was honger vir uitgaan; om stalletjies te besoek en om kunstenaars te sien optree, s\u00ea Van Zyl. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van die kosstalletjies het reeds teen Saterdag al hul voorraad verkoop. Besoekers het wel aangedui dat hulle meer kunsmarkstalletjies op die fees sou wou sien. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behalwe om aan die gemeenskap \u2019n fees te bied, dien die geleentheid as \u2019n geld\u00adinsamelingsprojek vir die programme wat vir volwassenes met \u2019n intellektuele gestremdheid by Yonder aangebied word. By di\u00e9 sentrum word 260 mense met spesiale behoeftes daagliks in 12 vaardighede opgelei. Elkeen van di\u00e9 mense was ook by die fees betrokke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In talle van die nommers op die feesprogram was die fokus op die leefw\u00eareld van enigeen met \u2019n gestremdheid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathys Roets, een van die talle kunstenaars wat opgetree het, het saam met Brink \u2019n praatjie oor die w\u00eareld van iemand met \u2019n gestremdheid gelewer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roets, wat 14 jaar gelede in \u2019n motorfiets\u00adongeluk was, is net soos Brink van mening dat mense sonder \u2019n gestremdheid gereeld vir iemand met \u2019n gestremdheid wil besluit waartoe hy of sy in staat is, of nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vir Roets was dit belangrik om n\u00e1 sy ongeluk klein struikelblokke te oorkom; soos om self te kan eet of tande te borsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMoenie vir die een groot ding wag om te gebeur nie; as jy die klein goedjies baasraak, raak dit beter,\u201d meen hy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMoet nooit toelaat dat iemand jou in \u2019n hoek sit nie; moet dit ook nie self doen nie,\u201d het Brink aan die gehoor ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tinus van Sittert, hoof van die Jannie Brink-skool vir leerlinge met spesiale behoeftes, wat swaksiende is, het vertel dat \u2019n mens nie vir alles bang moet wees nie en dat \u2019n mens kanse moet aangryp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die seremoniemeester op die geleentheid, Cedric Alexander, bekend as DJ Alex, is ook gesiggestremd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs jy in die oggend self kan opstaan en self kan badkamer toe gaan, is jy bevoorreg,\u201d was deel van sy boodskap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Zyl s\u00ea die positiewe terugvoering oor die fees maak dit makliker om weer volgende jaar s\u00f3 te doen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
