In the past few days, drugs worth thousands of rands were confiscated by police in the Northern Cape in an effort to eradicate drugs from the streets and to arrest drug dealers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mothibistad, an intelligence driven operation on Wednesday (14\/09) resulted in six suspects being placed behind bars for dealing in dagga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dagga, with an estimated street value of R45 000 was found in two houses situated behind each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another incident, the team consisting of members of the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol, K9, and Crime Intelligence units found 70 pokes of dagga worth R700. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lt Col. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said a total of six suspects were arrested and more than R60 000 in cash seized, which is believed to be the proceeds of the sale of the drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects will be appearing in the Kuruman Magistrate\u2019s Court soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday (13\/09), a 32-year-old male was arrested after police followed up on information of possible drug dealing at a house in Snake Park, Phutanang, Kimberley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sgt Timothy Sam, communication officer, said the police team obtained a search warrant and raided said house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dagga worth R42 000, as well as 6,3 g of tik (crystal meth), with an estimated street value of R1 575, was confiscated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate\u2019s Court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police members in Kagisho, as well as members of the Frances Baard Crime Intelligence, Organised Crime, and the Kimberley K9 units were involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also on Tuesday, a 37-year-old man from Deben was arrested for being in possession of 107 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R17 100, and dagga to the value of R1 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another incident in Deben, a 35-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of dagga to the estimated street value of R700, as well as an undisclosed amount of money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capt. Mosimaneotsile Letsapa, communication officer, said both suspects\u2019 houses were raided after a tip-off from the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects will soon appear before the Kathu Magistrate\u2019s Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Olifantshoek, also on Tuesday, police seized drugs buried in a room. This comes after the police in Olifantshoek followed up on information regarding alleged drug dealing in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police team searched a shack and found the drugs buried in the bedroom. They confiscated 382 mandrax tablets stashed in a purple plastic container. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lt Col Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said one adult male was arrested for the possession of the drugs worth approximately R4 000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect will be appearing in the Olifantshoek Magistrate\u2019s Court soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brig. Johnny Besnaar, the acting district commander of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, thanked the community for their assistance in providing information regarding illegal activities in the community, and urged them to continue doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday (11\/09), mandrax worth approximately R12 000 was confiscated in Galeshewe, Kimberley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This happenend when members of the police\u2019s crime intelligence and K9 units pounced on a male suspect in Sontlaba Street, Galeshewe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kock, police spokesperson, said the police received information that was operationalised and found drugs on the suspect, and more hidden inside his house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The drugs, which were hidden inside a shoebox in a cupboard, were discovered with the help of the K9 narcotics detection dogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect will be appearing in the Galeshewe Magistrate\u2019s Court soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, several other police actions across the Northern Cape yielded great success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Wednesday (14\/09), 50 undocumented persons were arrested and detained, and numerous knives and dangerous weapons confiscated in a multi-disciplinary operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sgt Dikeledi Gopane, communication officer, said the operation was conducted by police members from Kimberley, Modderrivier, Galeshewe and Kagisho, with external roleplayers including the Department of Home Affairs and Sol Plaatje Municipal Security, who embarked on activities at the municipal dumping area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the weekend, 30 wanted suspects for various crimes, such as assault, theft out of motor vehicles and house breaking, were arrested in Kimberley and Postmasburg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kock said in Kamieskroon, three males were arrested for being in possession of drugs worth approximately R5 000, which included tik, dagga and mandrax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident in Britstown, one male was arrested when dagga and mandrax worth approximately R10 000, was found in his possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kock also said mandrax, tik and dagga worth roughly R24 000 were confiscated in Postmasburg and Hopetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In liquor-focused operations in Slangpark and Hillside in Hopetown, 1 310 liters of homebrewed beer was seized at four different houses. Three suspects were issued with fines and one was charged with dealing in an illegal concoction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roadblocks were held on various roads in the Douglas and Campbell area during which persons and vehicles were stopped and searched. Fines for the contravention of the Road Traffic Act were also issued.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
