A 36-year-old foreign national was arrested by police members after a high-speed chase in Kimberley on Sunday at about 10:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lt Col. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said the police operationalised information received on a drug deal scheduled to take place in Beaconsfield, Kimberley.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the team, consisting of members of the Provincial Organised Crime Detectives, Kimberley K9 and the Multi-Dimension Organised Crime units, approached a charcoal coloured Mazda 2, its driver jumped back into the vehicle and sped off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver then allegedly lost control around a curve in Study Street in Beaconsfield, and crashed into a fence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect then allegedly tried swallowing some of the drugs but was stopped and arrested by the police members.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Police confiscated 22 g of tik with an approximate street value of R10 000 and also seized the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect was charged for dealing in drugs, defeating the ends of justice and resisting arrest. He will be appearing in the Kimberley Magistrate\u2019s Court soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • During last week and over the weekend, the police continued with Operation Vhuthu Hawe all over the Northern Cape and arrested several suspects. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Kock said in Homevale, Kimberley and Ikhutseng<\/strong>, police members from Warrenton followed up on information and arrested three male suspects with 500 mandrax tablets, worth about R50 000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Police members also confiscated cash amounting to R16 000, which is the alleged proceeds of drug sales on Thursday, 22 September, Kock said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Three males were also arrested for aggravated robbery in Green Street, Kimberley, on Friday, 23 September. The victims reported the incident to a patrol vehicle in the area. The suspects were arrested after being caught red-handed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Still on Friday, the police in Victoria West<\/strong> confiscated 600 litres of an illegal concoction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A male suspect was arrested, and the police seized the carcasses of three stolen sheep, 50 bags of cement and five Dixon car batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They also confiscated 258 dog food tablets which the suspect allegedly sold as mandrax tablets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In Olifantshoe<\/strong>k, two alleged drug houses were raided and police found 253 dagga pokes and 203 mandrax tablets with a total street value of R20 000. Two male suspects were arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Kock said all the suspects will be appearing in their respective local courts soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Furthermore, a team of Roodepan<\/strong> Detectives embarked on a wanted suspects tracing operation on Friday, 23 September, in this Kimberley suburb.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      A total of 14 suspects who have been on the run from the police for various crimes including attempted murder, theft, robbery, housebreaking and theft, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH), and contravention of a protection order, were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Sgt Timothy Sam of Galeshewe Communications said some of the suspects have been evading court appearance dates while others violated court orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The suspects were apprehended and arrested at their respective homes in and around Roodepan, and will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate\u2019s Court soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
