Hy het ook \u2019n pan op die plaas waar meer as 450 grootflaminke \u2019n maand gelede neergesak het om aan skaaldiere en ander waterorganismes te vreet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie brand het wes van my op ander plase begin en is deur die tierende wind tot oor die N8 aangedryf. Aanvanklik het ek gedink ons is veilig, maar die wind was te erg. Die vlamme het selfs aan die ander kant van my plaas oor die R357 gespring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEk het al brande op my plaas vanjaar gehad. Ek het gemeen die afgebrande dele sal natuurlike brandpaaie vorm. Gelukkig het die wild ten tyde van die brand op die afgebrande gedeeltes geskuil. Ek het nie wildverliese nie, maar klein diertjies soos knaagdiere en skilpaaie is dood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Blockquote\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_07c2f3c1\">\n<div class=\"text\">\u201cEk het ook skade aan geboue waar toeriste oorbly. Die verlies aan toeriste-inkomste is \u2019n groot terugslag, want daar is niks vir toeriste om te sien nie. Die veld is swart.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"citation\">Trevor Datnow<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGelukkig het daar kort n\u00e1 die brand re\u00ebn uitgesak wat al die smeulende stompe geblus het.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die omgewing se boere het mekaar gehelp om die brand te blus en om onderling voer vir die wild te verskaf. Datnow moet egter bykomende bale voer koop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie versekering sal die skade aan die geboue dek, maar ek moet self heinings, pype, plastiekwatertenks en ander infrastruktuur vervang.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Datnow s\u00ea dekades gelede het groot brande net elke twee jaar of meer uitgebreek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNou breek dit weekliks uit. Daar is gerugte van brandstigting, maar niemand ondersoek dit deeglik en met ywer nie. Dit moet ondersoek en die skuldiges aangekeer word.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intussen glo hy dit sal binnekort weer re\u00ebn dat die veld kan begin
