Rugby sevens matches galore, with the game\u2019s signature fast, high-scoring action, can be enjoyed this weekend in Kimberley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is the Frogfoot 7s Rugby Tournament taking place on Friday and Saturday at the Diamantveld High School in the Diamond City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams from Hangklip (Queenstown), Duineveld (Upington), Wildeklawer (Barkly West), Upington, Aliwal North, Adamantia (Kimberley) and Namakwaland (Springbok) will compete in this exhilarating version of traditional rugby, played between two teams of seven players who have 14 minutes to advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an exciting opportunity for U17 players to test their skills against players of other schools nationally, with the prospect of playing on one of the best fields in South Africa if they make it to the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Frogfoot 7s has been designed to offer a combination of good rugby and family leisure time, with entertainment for young and old: from the matches themselves, to fun activities and entertainment sections,\u201d said Miranda du Preez, head of brand activations at Frogfoot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great tradition in rugby sevens globally is dressing up, and Frogfoot cannot wait to give the best-dressed supporters great prizes, alongside other competition prizes made possible through partnerships with Vodacom, Afrihost, Cool Ideas, Joule Energy Solutions and VOX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHopefully we create excitement around the sport, with the players being able to showcase their potential against other players of schools from around the country while their families and the broader community have an opportunity to join in on the festivities \u2013 including games, live music and much more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is an event to celebrate both the sport and the positive impact it has on everyone,\u201d Du Preez concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, the tournament commences at 13:00 and is expected to continue until late, and on Saturday it is scheduled from 08:00 to 15:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prizes to the value of R25 000 are up for grabs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
