While the endurance of cyclers were tested during the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Cycle Challenge in Kimberley, relations between various stakeholders and community members were strengthened, and visitors entertained themselves at the array of flea market stalls at the Oppenheimer Gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this second annual event on Sunday, 27 November, presented by the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in association with the Northern Cape Cycling Federation (NCC) and Cycling South Africa (CSA), vice-chancellor and principal Prof. Andrew Crouch, said this will remain an important event on the university\u2019s calendar due to its ability to unite the community and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SPU expanded its cycling route from 43 km in 2021 to lengthier routes of 50 km and 105 km, and introduced a fun 5 km race for children \u2013 thus catering for the whole family. The initiative encourages healthy living by promoting cycling as an activity for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPU cheerleaders and mascot Gemmie raised the spirits of those in attendance. In addition, community members and cyclists were treated to prizes in lucky draws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president of NCC, Kobus Burger, expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMay we continue to build and foster good relations in support of one another to better the community and promote growth,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sol Plaatje University expresses its sincere thanks to all the sponsors who contributed to the success of the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Cycle Challenge 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
