To promote physical activity, a healthy lifestyle and
\nbalanced nutrition, the Northern Cape Department of Health hosted a health
\ncampaign in Tsineng in the Joe Morolong Local Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the occasion MEC Maruping Lekwene took part in an
\naerobics session, and urged community members to engage in daily activities
\nthat exercise the body to help retain a healthy body and help in the prevention
\nof diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maruping emphasised that exercise builds stronger bones,
\nbrings down blood pressure, lower cholesterol, burns off excess weight, boosts
\nimmunity, reduces cancer risk, increases self-esteem, improves mental
\nsharpness, lessens depression and anxiety, and eases stress levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main message of the event was that physical activity, a
\nbalanced diet, and a tobacco and alcohol-free lifestyle, were the first steps
\ntowards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These steps are also a cheap way to
\nimprove health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The World Health Organisation lists physical inactivity as Amongst others, councilors representing the municipality, Lekwene also emphasised the importance of people taking Physical inactivity lists
