By die rivier van die Gamagara, daar sal ons sit en ons trane sal vloei as ons aan Dingleton dink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2019n Mens dink met heimwee terug na ons geliefde plekkie \u2013 daar waar jy kon luister na die stilte en glimlag vir die hemelruim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die uitgestrekte vlaktes sal ons lank bybly, met die mooiste sonsondergange wat jy kon beleef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elke straat en elke huis daaronder roep sy eie herinneringe op. Baie van ons kinders is op daardie vrye, wye vlaktes gebore. Ons wortels l\u00ea daar, ons geliefdes en vriende l\u00ea in daardie grond begrawe \u2013 ons eie verreland van verlatenheid \u2013 met sterbelaaide nagte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waar in hierdie land kry jy \u2019n mooier naghemel as op Dingleton \u2013 die helderste waar ek al sterretjies sien skitter het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met volmaan kruip die saligheid onder jou vel in. Dit is \u2019n ander soort stilte wat heers as die maan so pragtig sy gesig wys \u2013 selfs die blink m\u00f4rester was iets besonders om te aanskou. Die naaste wat jy aan jou Skepper kan wees, is op s\u00f3 \u2019n vredeliewende plekkie.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Al l\u00ea die nagte in die winter donker en koud, het jy geweet jy is op jou hartsplek \u2013 jou huis is immers waar jou hart is. Dit is tye wanneer jy buig uit dankbaarheid vir wat die plek vir jou beteken het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nou mis jy die besonderse menswees van so baie vriende wat nie meer met ons is nie, en wat met soveel lof en nostalgie oor Dingleton kon praat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit laat \u2019n mens soms gebroke en jy ervaar diepe pyn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2019n Vriend het altyd ges\u00ea as hy eendag voor my tot sterwe kom, moet ek aan hom dink wanneer die son sak, want dit is wat hy die meeste van Dingleton gaan mis \u2013 die pragtige sonsondergange. Daarom het ek \u2019n kort boodskap vir elke mens \u2013 keer terug na die eenvoud van die lewe.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die vreugde van die Dingleton-beeld sal my altyd bybly. Selfs met onweer was Dingleton uitsonderlik. Dit het soms gevoel asof die weerlig en donderweer die aarde in twee slaan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al sou die winterwinde buite waai, sal ons altyd verlang na ons plekkie. Al l\u00ea die nagte donker soos ink oor die landskap, verlang ons na Dingleton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die uitskotmynhope rondom Dingleton het sy eie tafelberge gevorm. Weerlig en ysterertsklippe werk swaar in op mekaar. Jy kon behoorlik bang raak as hierdie onweer op sy ergste was.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Al kan verlange soms genadeloos wees, ons menswees het nie gaan l\u00ea nie \u2013 ons wilskrag is nog sterk. Ons gun Kumba om die ryk ystererts op ons eens pragtige plekkie te ontgin. Ons het onsself losgemaak daarvan en vrede gevind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar moet tog regverdig na die inwoners van ons sonstraalplek gekyk word. So leef ons in herinnering. Baie karakters het op Dingleton gebly. Ook mense by wie ons baie kon leer \u2013 hoogs intelligente inwoners. Baie van ons jeug het ver gevorder n\u00e1 skool en staan hul plek in die samelewing vol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vandag besef jy die trauma waardeur \u2019n mens gaan in s\u00f3 \u2019n verskuiwing. Dit laat letsels \u2013 wat dalk \u2019n leeftyd neem om te genees. Ek, persoonlik, mis die vo\u00ebls se gesang die meeste van ons eens mooi plekkie. Soggens, douvoordag, het die vo\u00ebls jou wakker gemaak as hulle hulself verlustig in die vrugte in bome. Vo\u00ebltjies in duisende het hulle tuisgemaak onder die Dingleton-hemel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ek glo sterk die menslike verstand het nie begryp wat aan die gebeur was nie, daarom die vele foute wat ons Dingleton-gemeenskap gemaak het. Vandag herkou ons aan baie dinge wat verkeerd gegaan het. Dingleton het ons eindelik laat gaan, maar die onopgeloste vrae bly spook. Selfs die treurende bome was \u2019n hartseer gesig om agter te laat. Dit het my laat dink aan \u2019n eensame bedlampie op \u2019n eensame bedkassie \u2013 sien alles maar s\u00ea niks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toe jy jou voordeur vir \u2019n laaste keer toetrek, toe besef jy om te groet is nooit lekker nie \u2013 veral \u2019n afskeidsgroet op Dingleton. Gou het menslike emosies die oorhand gekry en jy word van vooraf hartseer. Jy het geweet hierdie plek met sy 309 huiseienaars gaan gesloop word en waar \u2019n eens florerende gemeenskap op die vrugbare grond was, sal \u2019n myngebied wees.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Die w\u00eareld smag na die uiters ho\u00eb gehalte ystererts van die omgewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar sal altyd \u2019n soeke na vergifnis wees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat my egter hinder: Dingleton, waar is jou wyse manne nou? Jy bly verslae oor al die tekortkominge in die verskuiwing na Kathu en elders. Hier moet ons probeer heel raak en gesond word \u2013 ter wille van onsself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dingleton, ons swyg steeds oor die laaste oomblikke, maar sal vir solank ons leef jou salueer en oor jou treur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
