To formalise relationships and discuss social development in the area, a milestone meeting between Kumba Iron Ore and leaders of the Northern Cape Province House of Traditional Leaders recently took place in Kuruman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the meeting Mpumi Zikalala, Kumba\u2019s CEO, became the first CEO of a mining company to meet with the traditional leaders. Zikalala pledged R1 million for various projects which will have a direct impact on the communities of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The financial package will be provided by Sishen Mine and the implementation of the projects will be managed by the Traditional Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result of the engagement, Sishen announced another exciting project \u2013 it will support the traditional leaders on a profiling project that will capture the cultural heritage of the eight Dikgosi in an insightful manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zikalala expressed her eagerness to build and maintain relations with these leaders, and to plot a way forward on working together to ensure social development that benefits the communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
