Over the past few days, the police in the Northern Cape confiscated several firearms and arrested suspects for various crimes in De Aar, Modderrivier, Victoria West, Warrenton, Kimberley and Barkly West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Lt. Col Sergio Kock, police media officer, the police in De Aar confiscated two 9 mm pistols, rounds, as well as bankies of dagga and Mandrax tablets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One male suspect was arrested and was charged with possession of an illegal firearm, ammunition and drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Modderrivier, two males aged 32 and 42 years old, were arrested for being in possession of an illegal revolver and ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Victoria West, police members followed up on information regarding an illegal firearm. It was found buried near the train station, and two males were arrested and the .38 special revolver was confiscated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Warrenton, police members followed up on information regarding a house robbery. They came across three males, searched them and confiscated a firearm. The firearm was reported stolen in Christiana and the three suspects were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the N12 near Kimberley, police members spotted three suspicious looking vehicles while doing patrols. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicles, with a total of six occupants, were searched and police found truck wheels and a firearm with ammunition in one of the vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon further investigation the police found the truck on the R31 road near Barkly West. The driver was sleeping inside and was not aware of the theft of the truck wheels. The vehicle in which the truck wheels were found, was confiscated by the police and the suspects arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Van Wyksvlei, after following up on information, the police arrested a suspect after stopping and searching a silver bakkie on the R361. A substantial amount of drugs were confiscted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In yet another incident, on Friday, 17 March, members of the Kimberley Flying Squad arrested six men in Bultfontein Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Sgt Dikeledi Gopane, police communication officer, the members received information of truck tyres being stolen between Modderrivier and Belmont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The information was followed up and two vehicles, a white Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Quantum, were stopped at approximately 03:40. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gopane said inside the Quantum a total of ten Michelin tyres with rims, and one energizer tyre \u2013 all valued at approximately R120 000 \u2013 were found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Six male suspects, aged 35, 36, 41, 43, 36 and 43 respectively, were arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both vehicles were confiscated as it was used in the commission of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
