\u2019n Duidelike polisie- en weermagteenwoordigheid was Maandag (20\/03) in Kimberley tydens die EFF se #Shutdown-betoging sigbaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmper soos in 2020, met die lockdown,\u201d was vroegoggend die mening van \u2019n Noord-Kapenaar wat van \u2019n ander dorp na Kimberley vir \u2019n doktersafspraak gereis het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens hom was die paaie wat hy gebruik het stil, met geen versperrings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of dit weens die langnaweek of die betoging was \u2013 Kimberley se strate was veel stiller as normaalweg op \u2019n Maandag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tog was die meeste ondernemings se deure oop en by winkelsentrums was lede van die veiligheidsmagte, insluitend lede van sekuriteits\u00admaatskappye, sigbaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Greenpoint, \u2019n woonbuurt langs die N8 na Bloemfontein, het polisielede vroegoggend reeds brandende bande uit die weg geruim. Deur die oggend het polisielede, in die teenwoordigheid van die weermag, \u2019n groep betogers wat vanuit di\u00e9 woonbuurt die N8 wou afsper, met rubberkoe\u00ebls op \u2019n afstand gehou. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ook in Kakamas en Keimoes het sake soos normaalweg voortgegaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kakamas het ongeveer 20 betogers by die verkeersligkruising byeengekom, sonder voorvalle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Upington was die aantal polisielede glo meer as die betogers, en was die betogers in die middedorp rustig en vreedsaam, soos ook berig oor betogers in die meeste ander dorpe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teen Maandag vroegmiddag het die eienaar van \u2019n onderneming in Kathu ges\u00ea \u201calles is stil en kalm\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Postmasburg was in die vroe\u00eb oggendure enkele klein voorvalle waar bande gebrand is. Die brande is vinnig geblus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2019n Inwoner van Postmasburg, soos ook \u2019n inwoner van Upington, prys die polisie en lede van sekuriteits\u00admaatskappye \u2013 ook di\u00e9 van die myne \u2013 dat hulle \u201cgoed gerat\u201d was, voorbereid voorgekom het en \u2019n ho\u00eb sigbaarheid gehandhaaf het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie polisie in Postmasburg het positief en flink opgetree. Daar was \u2019n gemoedelikheid onder hulle en almal was netjies in hul uniforms geklee,\u201d s\u00ea die inwoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
