Participants from all over South Africa gathered to take on this year\u2019s challenging Matsa 100 Miler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 100 mile course from Bloemfontein to Kimberley took riders over terrain that tested their skills. Along the way, the wind picked up, making it difficult to maintain speed and keep control on the exposed gravel roads, and the previously clear skies were overcast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 160 km solo male category, Day Dusty emerged as the clear winner, finishing the race in 4:57:15. Egon Campbell and Jean Fourie finished in second and third place in 4:57:17 and 5:10:54, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The female 160 km solo category saw Tanya Roos staking her claim as the winner in 5:37:37. Angelique Nel and Johanet Heymann finished in second and third place in 6:07:24 and 6:08:51, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the relay team category, team Break Away Cycles won in 5:30:55. Team Oryx Endurance and Team 4rie Construction finished in second and third place in 6:03:01 and 6:33:20, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the e-bike solo category, Piet Nieuwenhuizen was the winner in 4:48:12, Ignus Pretorius was second in 6:10:05, and Sue Greyling third in 6:10:06. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kobus Burger of Oryx Endurance said the Matsa 100 Miler once again proved to be an unforgettable experience for all those involved, showcasing the strength, determination and camaraderie of the mountain biking community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competitors can be proud of their achievements on the course, he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
