A total of 19 members of the Hollanders gang appeared in the Kimberley Magistrates\u2019 Court on Friday (05\/05), facing 56 charges collectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These criminal charges include the long list of: rape, murder, numerous counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit the offence of murder, kidnapping, the unlawful possession of ammunition, the unlawful possession of firearms, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault, malicious damage to property, fraud, the aiding and abetting of criminal gang activity, bringing or performing acts of violence or criminal activities by a criminal gang, hindering and obstructing police members, and threatening police members with violence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mojalefa Senokoatsane, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), said it was alleged that during the period of August 2020 to February 2023, in the areas of Kimberley and Kuruman, the accused were active participants of a criminal gang, who wrongfully and unlawfully aided and abetted criminal activities for the benefit of their gang called the \u201cHollanders\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrests of the suspects came after extensive investigations led by the Hawks and other police units, and were guided by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigations are ongoing. Additional arrests and charges might be added in due course, Senokoatsane said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The matter was adjourned for Legal Aid services and postponed to 31 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
