Voordat Ouma Mietjie Kers doodgaan, s\u00ea sy, wil sy in haar Hop-huis bly wat al vanaf 2016 vir haar belowe is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vir meer as 40 jaar het Ouma Mietjie (76) en haar man, Oupa Hendrik Kers (69), in hul selfgeboude kleisteenhuis in Philandersbron in die Rietfontein-Mier-omgewing van die Kalahari gewoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In di\u00e9 huis het hulle kinders grootgemaak, en hul kleinkinders en agterkleinkinders ken dit ook as oupa en ouma se huis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar tyd, wind en re\u00ebn het die huis stelselmatig beskadig \u2013 in so \u2019n mate dat die bejaardes die huis moes ontruim en vir hul eie veiligheid by een van hul dogters woon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDaai huis is so stukkend, so flenters. Ek is oud \u2013 ek kan nie en ek wil nie meer daar gaan bly nie. Daai huis het my amper doodgemaak,\u201d s\u00ea Ouma Mietjie en vertel van die sterk wind en re\u00ebn wat in 2021 die sinkplate van die dak afgeruk het, en oor die ho\u00eb koppe gewaai het.<\/div>\n

Sy s\u00ea daardie dag was sy byna ernstig beseer weens die plate wat losgeruk het. Gelukkig was die kinders nie daardie dag tuis nie. N\u00e1 die skrikwekkende storm het sy boonop baie siek geword, en kon sy en haar man nie met veiligheid en vir haar eie gesondheid in die huis aanbly nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philandersbron, net soos Mier- en Rietfontein, is deel van die Dawid Kruiper-munisipaliteit in Upington se verantwoordelikheidsgebied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ouma Mietjie het lank reeds vir \u2019n Hop-huis aansoek gedoen, en in 2016 het \u2019n munisipale amptenaar vir haar ges\u00ea sy kwalifiseer, en is op die lys om \u2019n huis te kry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar die huis is nog nooit gebou nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSy het op en af, en in en uit geloop vir \u2019n huis, maar niks gebeur nie. Wanneer sy by die munisipale kantore kom s\u00ea hulle haar huis is klaar gebou. Maar daar is geen huis nie.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cEk is moeg,\u201d beklemtoon Ouma Mietjie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk is nou al jare sonder \u2019n huis. Maar hulle s\u00ea my huis is gebou. Dan vra ek hulle waar is my huis gebou, want hy is nie op my erf nie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens haar dogter is daar al drie keer Hop-huise gebou, en haar ma se naam was op die lys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk was twee jaar oud toe my ma na Philandersbron gekom het. Ek is nou 32 jaar oud, en het vier kinders. Ons het almal in daardie huis grootgeword. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy ma was al baie keer by die munisipaliteit en sy vra gereeld hulle moet tog haar huis kom bou. Sy wil in \u2019n nuwe huis sterf die dag wanneer sy sterf. Sy wil uit daardie nuwe huis begrawe word.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haar ma is nou moeg gewag en moeg vir beloftes. Wanneer daar wel Hop-huise gebou word, is dit vir jongeres. Sy wat \u2019n bejaarde is, word uitgelaat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit is onregverdig. Hulle sal \u2019n slag hul beloftes moet nakom,\u201d s\u00ea sy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
