N\u00e1 ses maande sonder lopende water is di\u00e9 vroue se hoofeis water in die krane, en nie uit tenks of van vragmotors af nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hulle is ook uiters ontevrede oor die munisipaliteit se onvermo\u00eb om behoorlik met die gemeenskap te kommunikeer, en om hulle feitelik oor die stand van die waterkrisis in te lig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSlegs wanneer ons dreig om te toi-toi, word daar plasings op groepe gedoen wat s\u00ea dat die watertoevoer teen die agtermiddag herstel sal wees,\u201d lui die memorandum, \u201cnet om nog \u2019n maand later steeds nie \u2019n druppel water in die krane te h\u00ea nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTerwyl die burgemeester foto\u2019s plaas van haarself saam met mede-comrades in ander dorpe, ly ons\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die vroue is ook bekommerd oor die skrywe wat hulle onder o\u00eb gehad het dat \u2019n tender vir \u2019n jaar vir die verskaffing van watertenkwaens gevra is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns kan nie meer waterhouers oor sulke ver afstande dra nie. Ons hande is stukkend, en selfs ons kruiwaens is gebreek.\u201d<\/div>\n
Vroue van Warrenton<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mase en die munisipaliteit het sewe dae tyd, tot 16 Augustus, om op die memorandum te reageer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verlede week het dit bekend geraak dat die kontrakteur wat die nuwe hoofwatertoevoerpyp aan die Magrieta Prinsloo-laagwaterbrug heg, ook nou getaak is om die ou pyp wat deur die Vaalrivier strek te herstel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinsdag is jeugdiges van die Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) na di\u00e9 onvoltooide pypstelsel oor die rivier ontbied om met sekere handwerk te help, blykbaar onder meer die pak van sandsakke om die vloei van die water te herlei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hieroor is gemeenskapslede benoud en hoop dat die jeugdiges, wat geen ondervinding in di\u00e9 soort werk het nie, behoorlik touwys gemaak sal word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verlede week, op Woensdag 2 Augustus, het dit wat lank reeds deur inwoners van Warrenton-dorp, Warrenvale en Ikhutseng voorspel is, \u2019n werklikheid geword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie straat is vol messtekery oor water \u2013 die mannetjies steek mes oor water. Wat moet ons nog oorkom, gemeenskap?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit was die wanhopige stemboodskap wat op die dag op \u2019n gemeenskapsgroep geplaas is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens \u2019n inwoner het twee jong mans van Warrenvale slaags geraak nadat gemoedere oor die voortslepende gebrek aan water, saam met die voortdurende gewag en gewonder oor water, opgevlam het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit gaan nou r\u00earig hopeloos te ver. Ons plaaslike en provinsiale regering moes al ingegryp het n\u00e1 die voorval maande terug toe die ouma en haar kleinkind op die N12 raakgery is oor weereens water \u2013 toe moes hulle al ingegryp het,\u201d het nog \u2019n inwoner ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk voel daar is nog nooit ingegryp van die regering se kant af nie. Ons bly aan die kortste ent trek,\u201d s\u00ea nog een.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2019n Vroe\u00ebre navraag aan die Magareng-munisipaliteit oor die stand van die herstel van die hoofwatertoevoerpypleiding tussen die Warrenton-wateraanleg en die dorp se reservoirs is steeds nie beantwoord nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die hoofwatertoevoerpypleiding, wat deur die Vaalrivier strek, is in Februarie tydens die vloede beskadig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sedertdien is die dorp sonder water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat as politiekery beskryf word, is volgens die gemeenskap die hoofrede waarom die herstel van die watertoevoer n\u00e1 maande nie afgehandel is nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
