Milner het \u2019n kort opsomming gegee van groot w\u00eareldgebeure wat die afgelope 100 jaar plaasgevind het, en wat gespreks\u00adonderwepe was waarmee haar ouma groot en oud geword het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dit sluit die Tweede W\u00eareldoorlog, die eerste maanlanding, die eerste hartoorplanting, die Koue Oorlog, Charlie Chaplin se eerste rolprent met klank en die eerste driekleurverkeerslig in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Boonop is haar ouma in dieselfde jaar gebore as wat die Walt Disney-maatskappy tot stand gekom het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olivier het haar man, Danie Olivier, in Pretoria ontmoet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In daardie tydperk was hy in die weermag, en Olivier het by \u2019n droogskoonmaker\u00adonderneming gewerk waar sy onder meer \u201cinvisible mending\u201d gedoen het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haar dogter, Elsab\u00e9 Mong van Kimberley, beskryf haar ma as \u2019n \u201cpresiese vrou\u201d, en hoe perfek en netjies sy die herstelwerk kon doen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olivier word ook as \u2019n meesterkok en bobaasbakker beskryf, en \u2019n fynproewer van formaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mong vertel dat haar ma melktert kon bak wat niemand kan nadoen nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
N\u00e1 hul troue het die Olivier-egpaar in onder meer Marble Hall en Pongola gewoon voordat hulle na Jan Kempdorp verhuis het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haar man was vir jare \u2019n voorligtings\u00adbeampte by \u2019n departement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Jan Kempdorp het Olivier by onder meer die Vroue-Landbouvereniging (VLV) betrokke geraak waar sy haar vlytighede verder kon uitbrei en beoefen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die egpaar het drie kinders gehad: een dogter en twee seuns. Danie woon in Bloemfontein, en Pieter wat in Oudtshoorn gewoon het, is ongeveer vier jaar terug oorlede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olivier het tien kleinkinders, 20 agterkleinkinders en een agteragterkleinkind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy ma se Godsdiens was nog altyd vir haar belangrik,\u201d vertel Mong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSy het altyd vir ons gebid en ons geleer om aan die Here vas te hou.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sy onthou ook dat haar ouers altyd gegee het; en dat hul hande vir ander oop was. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy ma het ook nooit met le\u00eb hande by iemand aangekom nie,\u201d onthou Mong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olivier het tot onlangs nog in haar eie woonstel in die aftreeoord gebly waar sy haar eie huishouding hanteer het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
