Sowat 280 kinders van Diamant Park in Kimberley het \u2018n welkome Kersfeespartytjie op 16 Desember gehad toe Care 24 Neigbourhood Watch, die plaaslike buurtwag, \u2018n byeenkoms vir hulle op \u2018n veld in die buurt gehou het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlene Jacobs, voorsitter, s\u00ea hulle wou kinders tot 10 jaar oud bederf. \u201cElke kind het \u2018n pakkie met lekkers, skyfies, koeldrank en \u2018n worsbroodjie gekry. Ons het musiek gespeel waarop hulle gedans het.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die eetgoed is deur plaaslike snoepwinkels, plaaslike skrootwerwe en hul eie geld geborg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My boodskap was dat die kinders hul Kersfees moet geniet en veilig en weg van die strate en onheil bly. Ek het hulle aangemoedig om eerder by sport betrokke te raak as om ledig te wees. Dit is wanneer hulle vir verkeerde dinge ontvanklik is. Ons oogmerk is met die hulp van vrywilligers volgende jaar sportprogramme vir die kinders aan te bied.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Immanuel Jeffries, \u2018n lid van Care24 Neighbourhood Watch, het die plaaslike skrootwerwe, met wie hulle nou saamwerk, ook tot die kinderpartytjie bygedra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy s\u00ea die buurtwag is vroe\u00ebr vanjaar gestig en bestaan uit tien permanente lede. \u201cOns werk saam met die gemeenskapspolisi\u00ebring- forum, die polisie, juis omdat ons die verdagtes ken. \u201cOns help met sake van huisbraak, kabeldiefstal en aanranding. Huisbrake word gewoonlik in die nag gepleeg, veral Saterdagaande wanneer mense nie tuis is nie. Op een dag het ons vyf inhegtenisnemings gemaak en van die gesteelde goedere teruggekry. Ons doen ons voetpatrollies op naweke. Soms sal ons met ons eie motors en brandstof patrollies doen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die groep bestaan uit vrywilligers wat \u2018n bydrae tot die samelewing wil lewer. \u201cHulle geniet wat hulle doen, en sien dit as \u2018n uitdaging. Dit is wonderlik as die gemeenskap ons bedank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns hou ook ons eie rekords sodat ons weet waar die verdagtes is, of hulle in aanhouding is of nie. Die inligting is waardevol. Die gemeenskap is so be\u00efndruk met ons omdat ons werk terwyl hulle slaap of ontspan. Van hulle skenk geld vir ons. Ons het al selfs gewonde mense in ons eie motors hospitaal toe geneem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die groep benodig borge om glimbaadjies, knuppels, flitse en pepersproei te verkry om hulself te beveilig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy is verheug dat jong mense ook deel van die groep is. \u201cDit is juis belangrik omdat jong mense kwesbaar is vir dwelmmisbruik.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nog \u2018n mikpunt is om hul skoolfonds te stu om skoolskoene en klere vir die buurt se kinders te koop en warm klere en komberse vir bejaarde mense in die winter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
