Potholes in a road in Kimberley recently resulted in a vehicle crashing through a palisade fence, damaging the fence and a part of the garden wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the past six months a resident of Carters Glen in Kimberley and her family pleaded with the Sol Plaatje Municipality to repair the severe potholes in the area, including those on the corner of Rhodes and Sinovich Avenue. They feared the potholes would eventually be the cause of an accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn 9 January, at approximately 16:25, an unfortunate incident occurred as a result of the potholes. A vehicle crashed into our property, damaging the garden wall and fence after swerving out for potholes,\u201d says Tasmin Coetzee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe potential for severe injury or fatality was evident, and it is only by sheer luck that the situation did not escalate further. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the pervasive pothole problem in our area,\u201d she remarks, saying it is disheartening that despite numerous complaints from residents and the clear dangers associated with potholes, no significant action has been taken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe safety of our community should be top-priority.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A media enquiry was sent to Thabo Mothibi, spokesperson for the municipality, on the state of the announced pothole repair project. He says it will be followed up with the relevant unit, and feedback will be provided. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
