The Port Nolloth Police Station has been recognised as the top-performing station in the Northern Cape during the South African Police Service\u2019s (SAPS) ninth National Excellence Awards ceremony which took place in Gauteng earlier in February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this event, several police members and units from the Northern Cape were awarded and recognised on national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northern Cape finalists were awarded in the following categories:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Administration team of the year:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Northern Cape Corporate Communication and Liaison team, under Brig. M.C. Gamieldien, is the first runner-up. The team received national accolade for the best media coverage of Operation Phakisa, and even with a shortage of personnel they achieved various successes in the 2022-\u201923 financial year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) investigator of the year (level 8-12):<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner is Lt. Col H.P. McKenzie, Kimberley FCS commander. McKenzie\u2019s passion and leadership propelled the team of 11 members to serve with distinction in investigating gender-based violence (GBV) cases, securing convictions and achieving unit targets. She also encourages new unit members to pursue tertiary education and complete their degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protection and Security Service team of the year:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second runner-up is the Technical Support team under Capt. K.C. Lethole. The team has demonstrated outstanding dedication and proficiency in their roles. They were deployed to 32 provincial events, ensuring that VIPs could carry out their responsibilities without apprehension, thanks to effective access control measures implemented at the events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sportsperson of the year with a disability: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>WO S.D. Motseme of the Kimberley Police Station is the second runner-up. Motseme is a shift commander in an emergency room. With an amputated leg, he has displayed remarkable resilience and succes in various sporting disciplines. Amongst other, he respresented the province at the police\u2019s National Blackbaal Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employee of the year with a disability:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>Lt. Col B. Sebolai of the provincial sub-section was nominated. Despite facing challenges, including a shortage of personnel and her own paraplegic condition, she works tirelessly and showcases resilience and a strong work ethic, inspiring others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the performance of the Port Nolloth Police Station <\/strong>under Lt. Col P.S. Moyo, it is said that it surpassed set targets and achieved outstanding results in various key areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The station was also rated as number 147 out of 1 157 police stations nationwide for swift reaction time to complaints. It received a 100% rating in the crime prevention environment, making it the best-performing station in crime prevention in the province and the country. Known for its cleanliness and excellent maintenance, the Port Nolloth police team consistently surpasses both its set targets and the national targets for detectives, showcasing their dedication and efficiency in law enforcement, as stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provincial commissioner, Lt. Gen.
