\u201cToe ek aan die begin van verlede jaar van die geleentheid (by Griekwas se o.21\u2019s) gehoor het, het ek nogal gedink hierdie is my kans. Heel toevallig by die plek waar my pa ook begin het,\u201d s\u00ea Du Toit, wat senter of losskakel speel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoewel sy pa diep spore by Griekwas gelaat het (hy het hulle in 31 wedstryde in 1998 en 1999 verteenwoordig waarin hy 390 punte aangeteken het), maak Du Toit dit duidelik dat hy sy eie storie skryf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy pa het sy naam vir homself gemaak. Dit is nie dat ek in sy voetspore wil volg nie, dit is net heel toevallig dat ek my kans by Griekwas gekry het waar my pa syne gekry het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEk wil my eie storie skep en skryf.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dit was in 1998 in Kimberley waar Gaffie sy eerste proesel provinsiale rugby gekry het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gaffie (47), wat meestal losskakel gespeel het, het onder meer die Springbokke in 14 toetse verteenwoordig. Gaffie het ook vir die Vrystaat, Haaie en die Westelike Provinsie diens gedoen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sy laaste toets was in 2006 teen Frankryk op Nuweland in Kaapstad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
