A promising student hailing from Olifantshoek is the new beneficiary of a local scholarship programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lo-Cresha Olyn is studying Law at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), having discovered her passion for the field through a programme at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). Her commitment to Law is driven by the recognition of her community\u2019s need for legal professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This 19-year-old follows in the footsteps of her fellow community member, Machalline Diergaardt, who recently graduated with a degree in Education at the University of the Free State (UFS), also as a Reisa Solar scholarship beneficiary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With motivation like this, Olyn is just as determined, and is set to complete her degree in 2027 and become an attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReceiving this scholarship has meant a lot to me, also to my parents; since I come from a family that does not have the financial means to support my studies. This opportunity has enabled me to pursue my dreams and strive for success, for which I am deeply grateful,\u201d said Olyn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Established in 2015, the Reisa Solar Scholarship Fund aims to provide tertiary education funding for youths residing within a 50 km radius of the solar facility, encompassing Kathu, Olifantshoek, Dibeng, Siyathemba, Babatas and Mapoteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme\u2019s primary focus is to contribute towards human resource development. It covers tuition, accommodation, stationery, textbooks, laptops, administration fees, meals, transport and living allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
