The Griquas Rugby Referees\u2019 Management strongly condemns the recent incident of referee abuse involving one of its esteemed female referees, Cameron Dyers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This unacceptable behaviour occurred at a rugby tournament for the U15 and U17 boys held in Kimberley this past weekend, as stated in a press release dated 20 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Griquas Rugby Referees\u2019 Management said Dyers, a dedicated and respected member of the refereeing team, was subjected to unprovoked abuse while fulfilling her duties on the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSuch incidents not only harm the individuals directly involved but also undermine the integrity and spirit of the game,\u201d it is stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a society, we stand united in our full support of Cameron Dyers. We are committed to ensuring her well-being and providing any necessary assistance as she recovers from this distressing experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe also affirm our zero-tolerance stance on any form of abuse or misconduct towards our referees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together with the Griqualand West Rugby Union (GWRU) decisive action will be taken in response to this incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is imperative that the alleged perpetrator faces severe consequences for the actions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
GWRU will be urged to hand down a harsh punishment to deter such behaviour in the future and to reinforce the message that abuse of referees will not be tolerated in our sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
