The class of 2024 is not afraid to explore and push the boundaries of their artistic imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the opening of the 40th annual Matric Art Exhibition of the Kimberley Art Centre (KAC), Chepape Makgato, chief curator of the William Humphreys Art Gallery (Whag), said the students embraced the possibilities of creation with a fearless spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makgato says the gallery and its management are proud to host this exhibition of the KAC, expressing the certainty that each year it brings a vibrant energy and the promise of a brighter future to the gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The themes reflect the realities of our time, and works engage with significant social issues, he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To have created these works \u2013 with themes such as \u201cBridge\u201d, \u201cScars in Society\u201d, \u201cMind, Body and Soul\u201d, \u201cFragility\u201d, \u201cThread\u201d and \u201cA moment in time\u201d \u2013 from an own perspective requires courage, says Anelle Liebenberg of the KAC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She says these works are honest, sometimes revealing secrets and innermost thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liebenberg is grateful for the privilege to host the exhibition in this prestigious gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She says that apart from affording them the opportunity to be creative, art teaches students to plan, be disciplined and to solve problems, amongst other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
