On Friday, 11 October, Mafu Rakometsi, chief executive officer (CEO) of quality assurance council Umalusi, said the country\u2019s four assessment bodies were ready to conduct, administer and manage the upcoming matric exams. These are the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the Department of Higher Education, and the two private assessment bodies: the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (Sacai). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 1,1 million candidates have registered in total, with 882 336 who are registered to write the NSC exams through the DBE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
News24 reported that Ramoketsi issued a stern warning to learners and teachers \u201cto refrain from all forms of cheating, including group copying where teachers are sometimes implicated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A shortage of markers has been identified in certain subjects, and measures have been implemented to address this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
