A group of 20 unemployed youths from the communities in Kuruman and Kathu have successfully completed a Mining Qualification Authority accredited Mineral Processing Level 2 learnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This learnership was initiated and driven by African Mining and Crushing (AMC), in collaboration with Tshipi E Ntle, who hosted the learners at their Tshipi Borwa site where they underwent practical exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A certificate ceremony was held at Tshipi in September to celebrate, where the learners expressed their thanks to AMC and Tshipi for affording them this opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They stated that it had been a long and hard journey, as none of them had ever been exposed to the mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gordon MacKenzie, training manager at the AMC training centre, who was also responsible for coordinating the programme, indicated that this would be one of many collaborative initiatives. The centre thanks the community forums who assisted with the recruitment of these young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Theuns Botha, AMC site manager, said that following an internal recruitment process, four of the candidates would be offered post-programme employment by AMC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
