Both young and old are invited to register for the Careline Clinic Rapid Chess Tournament taking place in Kimberley.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event, organised by the Careline Clinic Private Psychiatric Hospital <\/a>in partnership with Moja Chess Solutions NPC<\/a>, will be hosted at the Recreation Hall in Galeshewe on Saturday 20 June, from 08:00 to 14:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament will cater for both juniors and adults, reinforcing the message that chess is truly a game for everyone. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newcomers welcome to learn<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Beyond competition, the event will also provide an opportunity for newcomers to learn more about the game of chess and become part of organised chess structures. Several chess clubs will be present at the tournament to assist individuals who may wish to join local clubs and begin their chess journey. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents are encouraged to bring their children and expose them to this game that teaches patience, discipline, resilience and critical thinking.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sport of chess ‘formidable’ education tool<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chess is widely recognised as a formidable educational and developmental tool. It has been proven to improve concentration levels, discipline, emotional control, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills and confidence. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in structured intellectual activities such as chess also helps create safe, constructive spaces and belonging for young people.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosting this initiative during Youth Month is particularly significant, as it highlights the importance of investing in activities that empower and positively influence young people. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engagement in sport and intellectual recreation can play a meaningful role in keeping the youth away from crime, drugs, violence, and other harmful social influences.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament in Kimberley forms part of Careline Clinic’s ongoing commitment to promoting mental wellness and healthy lifestyles within communities. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Register online<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It will be played in five rounds, using a rapid format with a time control of 15 minutes plus a five-second increment per move (15 plus 5), under the supervision of qualified and professional arbiters.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chess players can enter in the open, B or junior section. A registration fee is payable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
