PRETORIA <\/strong>\u2013 Die Hooggeregshof in Pretoria het Maandag in ‘n uitspraak verklaar dat die bekende politikus Mosiuoa Gerrard Patrick Lekota, liefderik bekend as “Terror”, van 25 Mei 2025 tot sy dood op 4 Maart 2026 nie in staat was om sy eie sake te bestuur nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die aansoek is ingedien deur Lekota se wettige vrou, Ntombenhle Lekota (75), wat met hom in gemeenskap van goedere getroud was sedert 17 April 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ondanks hul huwelik het die egpaar sedert 2010 apart gewoon, sy in Bloemfontein, en hy in Gauteng, waar hy ‘n verhouding gehad het met adv. Luzelle Adams, by wie hy ‘n minderjarige seun (16) het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lekota se gesondheid het sedert 2018 agteruitgegaan toe hy ‘n beroerte gehad het, gevolg deur prostaatkanker. Op 25 April 2025 het hy ‘n knie-operasie ondergaan, maar die dag n\u00e1 sy ontslag het hy weer ‘n beroerte gehad en is in die ho\u00ebsorg-eenheid opgeneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toe Ntombenhle haar man in Januarie 2026 besoek het, was sy geskok deur met sy toestand. Hy kon nie onthou of hul siekefonds nog aktief was nie, ook nie sy finansi\u00eble adviseur se naam nie, en het geen kennis gedra van sy bankrekening-besonderhede nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meer verontrustend was toe hy Adams verwar het met die moeders van sy ander kinders en beweer het dat sy hom op Robbeneiland ondersteun het, ‘n tydperk toe Adams nog nie eens gebore was nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ntombenhle het dr. Z. Makasi, ‘n neuroloog, genader vir ‘n verslag oor haar man. Lekota het skriftelike toestemming gegee, hoewel met groot moeite. Hy kon skaars sy identiteitsnommer onthou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die volgende dag is die verslag egter teruggetrek nadat Lekota en Adams die vorige middag privaat met die dokter gepraat het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regter A. Millar het \u2019n kurator, ene mnr. Du Preez, aangestel om die verslag te bekom. Makasi wou hom verhinder, maar Du Preez het die verslag gekry. Daarin het Makasi bevestig dat Lekota sedert 25 Mei 2025 kognitief afhanklik was van ander mense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drie ander mediese deskundiges het hierdie bevinding gesteun. ‘n Kliniese neuropsigoloog het bevind ‘n kurator was reeds vanaf Mei 2025 noodsaaklik. ‘n Spesialis neurochirurg het bevestig Lekota was nie in staat om sy eie regs- en finansi\u00eble sake te bestuur nie. Die hospitaal-bestuurder van Morningside Mediclinic het verklaar dat Lekota nie geskik was om mediese besluite te neem nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op 12 Februarie 2026, terwyl partye nog in die hof onderhandel het oor ‘n bevel, het Adams twee onttrekkings uit Lekota se rekening van R250 000 (na haar eie prokureurs) en R150 000 na haar eiendomsmaatskappy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In die ondersoek na sy finansies is bevind sy het van Maart 2025 tot Februarie 2026 sowat R600 000 van sy rekening na hare oorgeplaas. Sy het oor \u2019n tydperk meer as R1 miljoen ontvang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regter Millar het tot die gevolgtrekking gekom dat Adams, terwyl die partye in goeie trou by die hof onderhandel het, Lekota se bankrekening leeggemaak het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die regter het ook bevind Lekota se dood het nie die aansoek onnodig gemaak nie. Ntombenhle se reg op haar onverdeelde helfte van die gesamentlike boedel bly onaangetas, en Adams moet rekenskap gee oor haar optrede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die hof het verklaar dat Adams as ‘n regsgeleerde moes geweet het dat enige volmag wat Lekota aan haar gegee het, reeds op 25 Mei 2025 verval het toe dr. Makasi hom kognitief ongeskik bevind het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams is op \u2019n bestraffende straf-kosteskaal beveel om die koste van die aansoek vanaf 5 Maart 2026 te betaal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verder is beveel dat Makasi se gedrag na die Gesondheidsberoeperaad van Suid-Afrika verwys word. Adams se optrede word na die Regspraktykraad-Gauteng en die Johannesburgse Advokatevereniging verwys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die prokureurs wat die R250 000 in hul trustrekening ontvang het, word ook na die Regspraktykraad en die Regspraktyk-getrouheidsfonds verwys.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
