The Hull Street Theatre in De Beers, Kimberley, is excited to announce auditions for the upcoming production of My Children! My Africa!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Producers of this play by Athol Fugard <\/a>are specifically looking for a white woman aged 18 to 30 years for the role of Isabel Dyson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dyson is an 18-year-old white student from the privileged Camdeboo Girls’ High School. She is intelligent, energetic, open-minded, and initially naive about the daily, harsh realities of apartheid, having lived a sheltered life.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Children! My Africa! <\/em>explores the conflict between intellectual debate and violent protest in apartheid-era South Africa through the characters Mr. M (traditional teacher), Thami (radical student) and Isabel (liberal white student). Key themes include the power of education, the necessity of language over violence, and the struggle for equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
