For the 26-year-old Lebogang Dikane from Hertzogville, stepping into the renewable energy sector marks a chance to build a future close to home. Earlier this year, he joined Boshof Solar Power <\/a>as a technical intern – becoming the first intern from the immediate community to take up the opportunity at the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since beginning his internship in January, Dikane has been gaining hands-on experience in solar plant operations and maintenance, supporting the team with inspections, performance monitoring, and preventative maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He holds a diploma and a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering qualification from the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, and will complete a postgraduate diploma in Project Management this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Being able to start my career in my hometown is incredibly valuable. It’s rewarding to contribute to a project that brings clean energy, skills development, and employment opportunities to my fellow community members,” shared Dikane.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His interest in renewable energy developed during his electrical engineering studies, particularly in energy management and power systems. He was inspired by the global transition towards sustainable energy and the opportunity to contribute to solutions that address climate change while improving energy access.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lebo is a smart, sharp, and vibrant young man. I look forward to supporting his growth and development over the next 12 months and seeing the positive impact of this internship right here in our community,” said Noluthando Mazibuko, economic development specialist at Boshof Solar Power.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
