VICTORIA-WES<\/strong> – ‘n Deel van die oudste huis in Victoria-Wes in die Noord-Kaap is in ‘n fratsbrand beskadig. Hoewel De Oude Pastorie verseker was, is minder as die helfte van dit wat nodig is om die huis te herstel, uitbetaal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die eienaars wil graag die huis na sy volle glorie herstel n\u00e1 die brand wat in Julie uitgebreek het. Hulle wil dit doen nie net om hierdie erfenisgebou vir die toekoms en volgende geslagte te bewaar nie, maar ook omdat dit ‘n werkende gastehuis is en hulle van di\u00e9 inkomste afhanklik is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Oude Pastorie was die eerste pastorie van die plaaslike NG kerk en is die oudste huis in die dorp. Dit is saam met die plaaslike NG kerk gebou en die sleutel-oorhandiging vir albei was op 10 Maart 1850. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ds. George Daneel<\/a>, na alle waarskynlikheid die enigste oud-Springbok-rugbyspeler \u00e9n predikant wat 100 jaar oud geword het, het in di\u00e9 huis grootgeword. Sy pa was destyds leraar in die dorp. Daneel is in 2004 in die ouderdom van 100 jaar oorlede. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nagenoeg 24 jaar gelede is De Oude Pastorie in ‘n gastehuis <\/a>met vyf gastekamers met en-suite badkamers omskep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Oude Pastorie is binne stapafstand van die Apollo-teater <\/a>wat in 1928 as ‘n bioskooplokaal deur Andrew Basil gestig is. Dit is die enigste Art Deco-rolprentteater<\/a> in Suid-Afrika en behalwe films wat nog hier vertoon word, word musiekuitvoerings, kunsuitstallings en verskeie ander kulturele aktiwiteite hier aangebied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gemeenskap begin geldinsamelingsveldtog<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Omdat gemeenskapslede van mening is dat die spoedige herstel van hierdie erfenisgebou nie net vir die eienaars, maar ook vir die gemeenskap en sy eiesoortige karakter van belang is, het hulle ‘n geldinsamelingsveldtog op BackaBuddy begin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
