A variety of stalls selling freshly home-made food, with orchestral music in the background, will characterise the first-ever Christmas in July Food Festival taking place at Rudd House in Kimberley.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this festival visitors can experience a relaxed atmosphere while shopping for mouth-watering dishes between the different stalls. Food purchased can either be taken home, or enjoyed on the premises. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gayle Kotz\u00e9 of Slice of Nice<\/a>, which recently opened its doors in the McGregor Museum, says those who pay a R25 fee to enter Rudd House can enjoy their meal in the dining room of this Victorian house. Festive tables will be set inside. The entrance fee goes to the McGregor Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kotz\u00e9 says only freshly prepared food will be for sale, such as oxtail-in-a-tin, oxtail-pie-baked-in-a-tin and Italian style meatballs; with favourites such as samoosas, pancakes, sausage rolls, and more, on the menu. Mocktails, hot chocolate and more will also be sold.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rudd House is renowned for its well-preserved Victorian architectural features, including intricate woodwork, high ceilings, and grand staircases. It is surrounded by verandahs and is lavishly furnished. Outside the house is a gigantic fig tree. The house is a typical example of a residence built for wealthy people during the 19th century, and was donated to the McGregor Museum in 1971.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This food festival is part of the McGregor Museum’s vision to deviate from static and formal visits to museums, enabling people to get acquainted with museums in an informal way. More exciting events are in the planning phases. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Kotz\u00e9 says there is still space for a few stalls at the festival. Those who are interested can contact Cassi Warren for more information, as no stalls will be duplicated.\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
