MCHUBAKAZI team Young Stars FC coach, Nceba Maduntswana, is aiming to use the knowledge he gained during the CAF D licence coaching course held recently in Butterworth to develop young players around Mnquma and the surrounding areas.
Coach Maduntswana was among the 26 coaches who attended the eight-day CAF D licence coaching course, hosted by Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup and the Mnquma Local Football Association (Mnquma LFA) in partnership with SAFA in Butterworth last month.
The aim of the course was to empower upcoming coaches with coaching knowledge and to assist them in obtaining a CAF D licence.
Over the weekend, Mthatha Express had the opportunity to chat with Maduntswana about what he learned during the course, as it was his first time studying a coaching course.
“Firstly, I want to thank the Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup and Mnquma Local Football Association for organising the CAF D licence coaching course. I can say we learned a lot during the course,” said Maduntswana.
He mentioned that the course was primarily focused on development, particularly in training U/10s and U/13s teams.
“We were told that when you train young players like U/10s, you need to give them the ball and let them play, unlike when you train senior team players where you would start with a warm-up and other things,” said the Young Stars FC coach.
Furthermore, he said they had learned a great deal about development, and he intends to apply the knowledge gained during the CAF D licence coaching course in the Mnquma LFA U/15s league to assist young players.
Maduntswana, who is a promising coach in Mnquma, has also indicated that he will share his coaching knowledge with surrounding schools in an effort to help develop young players.
His team, Young Stars FC, was promoted at the end of the recent season after winning the Mnquma LFA promotion playoffs, and they were crowned champions of the annual Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup earlier this year. All these achievements demonstrate that Maduntswana is an ambitious coach who is working hard to achieve his dream of coaching.
